Referrals to the Muslim Aids Programme

We at MAP send you greetings of love and peace in the spirit of Islam. The Muslim Aids Programme (MAP) appeals to the IMA members for support by referring people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS to us. We are a faith-based organization operating on a national, provincial and community level. MAP has been in existence since 1997 and started out as a project in Gauteng in response to the President’s “Partnership Against AIDS” initiative. MAP was later extended to other provinces including Kwa-Zulu Natal, Mpumalanga and the Western Cape. The Western Cape branch was established in 2000 and the emphasis was initially on AIDS awareness raising, education and training. In July 2004 MAP Western Cape was formalized and is presently located at the Sarah Baartman Centre for abused women and children in Klipfontein Road, Athlone.

The MAP WC provides the following services (click here for further details:

Life skills programmes in local schools (including Muslim schools) and madrassas to empower children and youth to make more informed choices that will reduce the risk of them becoming infected with HIV. This programme also promotes abstinence and faithfulness as a means of HIV/AIDS prevention.
Aids awareness education and training to caregivers, religious leaders and interfaith groups, teachers and community health care workers.
Counselling care and support to people and families infected or affected by the disease.

We need your support by referring persons infected or affected by HIV/AIDS, in particular women, children, youth and clients who can make use of our services as indicated above.
